Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show- The Greatest Boat Show on the Seven Seas!

The Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show (FLIBS) is the largest in-water boat show in the world and is always an enormous boost to the local economy. The show attracts on average, 100,000 attendees and 1,000 exhibitors from around the world. Products on display range from t-shirts to mega yachts, and everything in between, including marine electronics, fishing equipment and about 1,300 different boats. Even non-boaters will love the energy and excitement, as well as the upscale food and drink options.

The following tips should help you navigate your way to the boat show and to locate the exhibits and boats you’re looking for. The Greater Fort Lauderdale/Broward County Convention Center hosts the exhibits, booths and smaller boat displays. If you’re looking for the big-boy boats, including the mega yachts and large sport fishers, then the Bahia Mar Yachting Center on the barrier island is the place to be. You can go between the various show locations by shuttle bus or water taxi. The boat show consists of 7 locations.

Windward VIP Club

In the show’s heart on the main face dock at Bahia Mar, the Windward VIP Club features a beautiful air-conditioned arched tent with outdoor terraces offering yacht and water views. This boat show sanctuary provides guests with early show access (9:00 AM), a premium open bar and gourmet food all day. VIP guests looking to purchase a boat may book private appointments with yacht brokers and manufacturers through a private VIP concierge. Tip: VIP Tickets usually sell out, so buy them in advance.

Upscale Culinary Experience

Find everything you are craving, from lobster rolls to street tacos and hand-crafted burgers. Other delicious seafood options include stone crabs, oysters and calamari. Upscale beverages include local craft beers, premium wines and specialty cocktails.

Hook The Future – Kids Fishing Clinics

Bring the whole family and introduce the kids to fishing at the boat show. They will hold fishing education classes on Saturday and Sunday at the Convention Center.

Superyacht Village

At the new “Pier South” at Pier 66, this exhibit features yachts nearly 300 feet long! You can access the marina by tender and shuttle bus. There is also valet and self-parking, when available.

Aquazone – Watersport Demos

The AquaZone is presented by Nautical Ventures and is open all day with regular demonstrations from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM. This is an exciting and engaging attraction designed to provide an upfront and personal experience with a variety of products that cater to all different boaters and lovers of watersports.

SHOW TICKETS

You can buy tickets at the show or online for $37 for a one day pass. Children ages 6 to 15 are $15 and children under 6 are free. The busiest days are Saturday and Sunday, so if you don’t like the crowds, try to go Wednesday, Thursday or Friday morning. The Primetime Preview on Wednesday is more expensive ($57), but worth it if you want the first chance to buy your dream boat. Yes, the good ones sell early in the show, especially if the weather is good. VIP tickets are also available on-line for $300 and they typically sell out.

PARKING AND TRANSPORTATION

Parking close by can be difficult and expensive, so consider taking Uber or a taxi, especially if you want to be at the Bahia Mar, Hall of Fame and Pier 66 Marinas. Another good option is to park at the convention center and take the bus or water shuttle to the marinas. You can also jump on the water taxi from any stop in Fort Lauderdale and connect to all the boat show locations. All day water taxi passes are only $12. Valet parking is also available at the Las Olas Marina (expensive) or at Galleria Mall. From the Galleria Mall you can walk to the Gallery One Doubletree Hotel and take the water taxi from there.
